Idempotency

Idempotency means a repeated operation has the same intended effect as one execution under the relevant contract.

Updated 2026-10-29 · Topicut editorial

Meaning

Idempotency means a repeated operation has the same intended effect as one execution under the relevant contract.

A practical example

A repeated render submission with the same accepted request identifier should refer to the existing job instead of charging and generating again.

What to check

A retry button alone does not provide this property. Persist the request identity and outcome, including uncertain results, before repeating side effects.
