Meaning

Timecode is a convention for identifying positions in moving media, often expressed using hours, minutes, seconds and frames.

A practical example

A label ending in a frame field must be interpreted with its associated frame rate; it is not automatically a decimal fraction of a second.

What to check

Mixing frame-based timecode and millisecond timestamps can create offset errors. Record the convention and rate before converting positions.
