Write a video description that separates the summary, chapters and sources
A useful description orients the viewer, helps them navigate and makes source information easier to investigate.
A useful description orients the viewer, helps them navigate and makes source information easier to investigate. Those are different jobs. Separate them rather than turning the description into one long keyword paragraph or treating every URL as an endorsement.
Make the decision explicit
Start with a short description of the actual video. Add a checked chapter list if appropriate, then source and attribution notes that match the final asset selection. Preserve relevant qualifications. Do not add claims about results, expertise or licensing merely because they sound persuasive in a description.
A worked example
For a fictional bridge explainer, the opening states that the film compares two recorded designs. The chapter block names the design question, test and conclusion. The source block identifies the report and the visual material used. If the script later drops one comparison, revise the summary and chapter title rather than leaving a more exciting promise attached to an unrelated final export.
Review before handoff
Topicut's description builder assembles the supplied blocks without AI writing or network requests. Its chapter block is not independently checked there; use the separate formatter and actual video duration. Review links, wording and credit requirements before publishing. A well-structured description improves clarity, but it does not guarantee search ranking, factual accuracy or permission to reuse the listed material.
Put the idea to work
