Updated 2026-10-29 · Topicut editorial

Meaning

A primary source is evidence close to the event, observation or material under investigation, interpreted in its original context.

A practical example

An original mission log may document a recorded instruction, but not every later interpretation of that instruction.

What to check

Contemporary does not mean complete or unbiased. Note who created the record, why it was created and which claim it can actually support.

For a related planning or text task, open the source attribution builder. The tool has its own limits; its result is not a measurement or approval of every concept described here.
