Review individual NASA media credits instead of assuming every file is identical

NASA imagery is valuable for space explanations, but the page domain is not the complete source record.

NASA imagery is valuable for space explanations, but the page domain is not the complete source record. Individual media can carry credit lines and third-party material notices that matter to how the file is reviewed and presented.

Make the decision explicit

Open the actual media page and read the listed credit and applicable usage guidance. Preserve the original link, file identifier, date observed and any third-party notice. Distinguish a factual use of an image from a presentation that could imply endorsement. Keep image review separate from permission to use a logo or another protected identifier.

A worked example

A fictional source list includes two space images from pages hosted by the same organization. One credits an agency mission; another credits a separate contributor. Copying the same generic source line to both obscures that distinction. Retain each record and decide which image actually supports the explanation, rather than treating every space photograph as interchangeable background.

Review before handoff

Check the source again when finalizing the project and document relevant modifications. NASA's public guidance identifies circumstances and exceptions; it does not turn an automated formatter into a clearance service. If a question remains about the intended use, obtain appropriate review. Do not resolve it by assuming that no visible fee means unrestricted reuse.

Put the idea to work

Read provenance and use the related free workflow tool for its stated, limited task. Neither link replaces the review described above.
