Original illustrative diagram: Queued → Processing → Complete.

Separate render-queue waiting time from processing time

A long wait before a video appears can include admission checks, queue time, asset preparation, rendering and packaging.

A long wait before a video appears can include admission checks, queue time, asset preparation, rendering and packaging. Combining those stages into one vague generating state makes it difficult to diagnose delays or explain what a customer can safely do next.

Make the decision explicit

Record accepted, started and completed times where the workflow supports them. Distinguish work that has not started from work whose external outcome is unknown. When a request times out, do not assume the provider did no work. A safe retry policy depends on a persistent job identity and a verified outcome, not merely elapsed time.

A worked example

In an invented queue, job A waits six minutes and then renders for four; job B starts immediately and renders for seven. A viewer sees ten minutes for A and seven for B, but B used more processing time. Adding more workers could reduce A's queue delay without changing its render duration. Whether that is worthwhile depends on actual costs and service goals.

Review before handoff

Inspect failure recovery and duplicate-dispatch behavior before promising a completion window. A finished short fixture does not establish long-video throughput or public capacity. Keep measured examples labelled with their scope and avoid presenting a theoretical queue improvement as a result observed in production.

Put the idea to work

Read render queue and use the related free workflow tool for its stated, limited task. Neither link replaces the review described above.

Choose 720p or 1080p from source detail and the viewing task

Estimate video size with audio included, then measure the export

A video-size estimate should include both picture and sound and should state whether the units are decimal or binary.
